GUIDELINES FOR BURSARIES 2009-2010

The CBC Legacy Fund provides scholarships of $500 for stundents who are enrolled in theological, biblical or discipleship programs that equip men and women to live as disciples of Jesus Christ, through spiritual formation, biblical knowledge, Christian service, and intentional community.

  • CBC Legacy Fund Bursaries are intended to support the disipleship of students who are affiliated with Evangelical Covenant Churches within the Canadian Conference.
    • A limited number of awards have been reserved for the descendants of CBC Alumni who reside in Canada or who are attending Canadian programs that meet the CBC Legacy Fund qualifications.
    • Each application must be nominated for this award by a pastor or council member of an Evangelical Covenant Church within the Canadian Conference (or, in the case of a CBC Alumni descendant who is not attending an Evangelical Covenant Church, a Nomination from your home church pastor).
  • Nominations and Applications must be completed and emailed, postmarked or faxed by November 30th, 2009. Using the PDF forms and emailing them is preferred.

  • CBC Legacy Fund Bursaries are limited to undergraduate students or participants in discipleship programs that last at least the length of one university semester (typically 4 months).
    • Qualifying programs include:
      • A Discipleship Course that is “hands on” in nature (such as YWAM, Hillsong, etc.)
      • A Bible School (such as Nipawin, Capernwray, etc.)
      • A Christian College or University (such as Briercrest, CMU, TWU, NPU, etc.)
  • CBC Legacy Fund Bursaries are $500.00
  • There are a limited number of awards available each year depending on financial markets.
  • Award recipients will be informed immediately upon decision; Award cheques will be received by the end of January, 2010.
  • Bursaries will be awarded on a “first come, first serve” basis.
  • First Year/One Year students will receive an award without restriction, providing they meet the application guidelines and their program fits the criteria of the CBC Legacy Fund.
  • Bursaries are available to students in subsequent years, however there is a volunteer requirement of a minimum of 40 hours during the Summer between May and August (for example: one week of volunteering at a Christian camp; one week of VBS; volunteer on a missions trip; or; 40 hours spread out over several weeks, etc) or 40 hours of volunteering with a Christian ministry during the Fall semester between September and December. These volunteer hours must be verified by the supervisor of the ministry or your local pastor.
  • An Awards Committee of no less than 3 (three) people will follow the guidelines above and will be responsible for all decisions.
    • Immediate relatives (parents, siblings, spouses, children) of Awards Committee Members will not be considered for awards.
    • The decisions of the Awards Committee are final.
  • Applications must be fully complete, and must be accompanied by a letter of Nomination from a qualifying person (see "CBC Legacy Fund Nomination" form).
